Small-scale solar projects?

Do any counties have experience with small-acreage solar projects (less than 10 acres) that are being set up in uncultivated areas of ag fields or where irrigation pivots can’t reach? There might even be multiple small projects like this around a single field or area. Interested in how this works with CUVA and possible solar ordinances in other counties.

From Myrna Taylor, Chief Appraiser:

Appling County is seeking input from other counties that are dealing with these over night popup Bitcoin mining facilities in their county. Any information you can lend will be greatly appreciated. The individuals that are onsite, none speak English. I have no information as to where we are to send Personal Property Returns to be completed. I have spoken on phone with a few counties and from what I am gathering the personal property is around $65 Million addition to Digest. Thanks in advance for any and all information.

Solar Farms

I have a few questions about solar farms. How do other counties group the personal property assets for solar farms? I have been putting them into group 3. How do you value the land? I have now valued the land as commercial. Do you split out the solar farm if you have a recorded plat but the owner has not requested it be split?

Here in Harris County, we do have a counter and window to limit to access all the way into the office.

I'm trying to find out how many counties have counters or windows to limit the access to the assessor's office. From a security/safety standpoint.

I heard some counties that use Mobile Assessor was trying to push some details to Qpublic who then make some announcements or indication of visitation schedules on the web.

From a technology perspective, if we had email addresses or cell phone numbers we could build a tool that delivers electronic notifcation via text messages or emails. Another thing, your office could create a social media account, invite your citizens to follow that account and you could make a simple twiter/instagram/facebook post on the daily to alert citizens where the visits will be occurring. There are lots of options.
